Congress put through a law that increased physician pay by 10.6% along with increases to pay for wheelchairs and other items needed by the disabled community. This bill also increases bonuses paid to doctors and nurses that move to rural areas. Both houses of congress passed the bill by large margins and it was expected to be signed into law immediately. However, the Bush administration vetoed the bill saying that it would reduce spending on private health insurance plans. But the House of Representatives re-voted on the bill and passed it by 383-41 and the Senate re-voted and passed the bill 70-26 overriding the veto.
