Carjacker almost kills disabled woman
In these days where we must all be careful, it is doubly so for the disabled. Crooks and other scum like to go after easy targets like people in wheelchairs or using walkers. They expect that the disabled person cannot fight back and they can steal whatever is on the person or their credit cards and ATM cards. In this story a disabled woman was eating in her car when a man brandishing a gun demanded that she open the passenger side door. After do so the woman was forced to go to several ATM’s to pull out money. Unfortunately she was partially deaf and used hearing aids which made it hard to understand what the crook wanted. After becoming frustrated with the disabled woman, the crook forced her out of the driver side door and took off with her car. Since the crook used several ATMs the pictures are being checked to see if the police can identify the carjackers. Fortunately the woman was unharmed physically and the police found her car so she could drive home. (Source: cbs11tv.com)
These times are frightening as more people are out of work and those that were living off of soup kitchens and food banks are finding that food and money is no longer there to keep these organizations running. Some go to crimes like mugging or carjacking which are very scary and leave lingering mental scars. In this case the woman saw the man originally across the street walking around strangely. This is a lesson to all of us to constantly watch our surroundings and never put ourselves into a situation where we are alone and hidden away from lots of people walking around us. I always keep the engine running and ready to get out of the parking spot in case something happens. Being prepared is the best way to survive a crime and this is no different. If strange people are walking around or nearby get out of there, don’t become a statistic. Be ready to dart out of your parking space so the crook doesn’t get a chance to get into the car or threaten you to open the door. This woman was very lucky she wasn’t shot because she saw the assailant and could identify him.
