Hope for the Webmaster: Patience; Prayer and a Sense of Humor

To all of our readers,

I know the site has been quiet since June without explanation. Our sincerest apologies. But at last I can tell you what has happened.

The webmaster’s SCI accident was 4+ years ago. Almost 3 years ago today, he went in for emergency shunt insertion surgery, due to spinal cord fluid back-up. For six months prior to that point we had both spent a lot of time and energy telling the medical community something was wrong with his back. We were met with ignorance.

Now here we are almost exactly 3 years later; having told the medical community that once again something was wrong with the webmaster’s back. And again, we were met with ignorance and now intolerance. But lo’ and behold (after chasing the medical community)….the webmaster has an elongated syrinx the entire length of his spine; a failed shunt and two lumps on his back. The unintended challenge with this is a wound that developed as the result of a new wheelchair not being put together completely.

He is in good spirits and our child is holding up well under the circumstances. Now that we finally have a path to recovery set up for the webmaster, I’ll try to write more often and hope that you’ll keep checking back.

Your continued prayers and cheerleading are most appreciated and know that we really miss you.

Sincerely,

His wife, the Roaring Mouse
